In the beginning of the movie we see Simon break his sister out of an alliance lab where she was made to be a living weapon and this shows us the length to which Simon went to rescue her.
We learn what the Alliance was trying to create with their experiments and why they want her back.
River has psychic abilities and is taken along to rob a bank and Mal takes advantage of her ability to ‘read’ people.
While they are robbing the bank the reavers show up, reavers are humans that have become savage for some "unknown" reason and we learn more about the nature and genesis of Reavers.
Simon Tam finds out and is not happy that River was put in danger and has a falling out with Mal over the safety of River and he decides to leave the ship when they reach a safe port.
When they find the safe port the go into a bar, River is awakend by some subliminal message in a commercial and utters the word "Miranda." and then she starts killing everyone in the bar the only way she stops is when Simon says the safety word to put her to sleep.
The alliance is on to her and starts to chase them.
The blue hand guys are replaced by “The Operative” he is a government agent who will stop at nothing in his search for River, no horror is beyond his willingness to commit to get her
Shepherd Book has left the ship and is ministering on a border moon and still provides council for the crew – including Mal.
Inara has left Serenity for a companion house and when the Operative arrives she is forced to call Mal, the scene where the crew discusses this ‘trap’ is hilarious ......come on now you did not think I was going to tell you everything did you?
When Mal goes to see her we do get to see IMO a great fight scene with Mal and the Operative.
Kaylee is missing her friends, Inara and Book, and blames Mal for chasing them away and Jayne is still the mercenary that we remember.
There is a lot more, I could go on and rant and rave about it but I thought this would do ok as a small teaser for you
;D

wookie, believe me everyone I have ever talked to that even only ever watched one episode of Firefly seems to feel the same way you do. I loved the series I watch it at least once a week(I own it on DVD) and thank you for the sentiment, I guess I will just have to wait for the DVD version.........

Well people Serenity will be out on store shelves tomorrow morning, and i don't know about you but it'll be in my DVD player first thing after work.
Also not to put a big bummer on the DVD release but I just read in entertainment weekly that they will not be doing any more movies. They only mad 20 million in profit and they don't want to take a chance on a sequel flop. (sigh) I'm rather disappointed but Joss said he had closer so I guess I'm gonna just have to accept it.

Yay! Just got back from Target with this movie. Unfortunately, I'll have to wait until the kiddies are in bed before I can watch it. Oh well, at least it's in my possession...

The Movie is absolutely everything I loved about this show!! OMG River so kicks butt awesome awesome awesome!!! there were clues here and there about how she was this just brings that all to the forefront of her character....... I love the fact that the interaction is still there and it doesn't seem choppy at all as if there wasn't a long break between the series and the movie at all .......... the acting is superb ......... Mal is alot darker than he was in the series but you can't really blame him after all....... the time between the movie and the series hasn't been good to him at all as a character(has anyone read the comics? they are awesome) Inara seems to have lost a bit of her hardness but I like that aspect, Zoe is still herself but changed a bit by the end of the movie, Wash.......... well I am not going to put what I think really needs to be said as some few might not have had the chance to see it yet and I hate spoiling a surprise for anyone...... Jayne is still Jayne and his edge is still there even when he doesn't get his way......I am dissapointed that we don't get to learn all the secrets that go along with Book ah well he is still an excellent shephard.......Simon seems alot more ........... how should we say confident than he did and more sure of himself and his abilities......and Kaylee well she is alot more mature than she was when we last saw her which is awesome Love the movie love the CGI IMO one of the best films of the year.......... a must see
