Batman begins is now on video!!! all I can say is yah yah yah, I got it today and after watching it I have to say I was more impressed than I thought I would be. and wow the effects are awesome, I like the way they put it together, but I think they mesed up on a few essential parts, like who killed his parents, but it was enjopyable all the same I don't think it hit as hard as it could have but the action was good.

From what I remember, it was pretty accurate as to who killed his parents. or rather, as accurate as can be. There are two or three different versions.
Anyway, I saw this with my girlfriend when it was in theatres, and it was pretty enjoyable, despite quite a few big plot holes.

I just saw it up in Sweden (can't see it in English here in Saarbrücken) 2 weeks ago. Good film. I think without a doubt the best of the films (I can't comment as to the value in relation to the comics (never read them... for those comic fanboys among you, tut mir leid!), but I feel that as a film, it enjoys quality acting, as well as substantially better acting than the other Batman movies.

They did a fine job with Batman Begins. The part where he was trained by Ra's was something they added for the film, but otherwise I think it was very close to the source material.

That part was really interesting. But overall, I'd say I liked Tim Burton's Batman films best, with Michael Keaton. Burton's Gotham has such an interesting style to it.

Thing is these new Batman movies seem unconncected to the earlier films. People are saying Batman will meet the Joke for the "first" time in the sequel to Batman Begins.

well that would would just really blow the others out of the water........which I think is a shame. I loved the original 2 with Michael Keaton(who imho was the best Batman ever) but I did not care for Val Kilmer as Batman he just did not pull it ioff well and George Clooney was alright but just not what I had envisioned at all

In the Keaton Batman films it was Jack Napier, a.k.a. The Joker who killed Bruce Wayne's parents. In Batman Begins it was handled differently. Speculation is that Joker will be in the sequel to Begins, and if that happens then this can be considered a seperate series of films.

Joe Chill (as seen in Batman Begins) is the most consistent origin from the comics. Just as they had Ras involved in Bruce's transformation here, they had the pre-Joker criminal in the first Burton film be the killer (in order to keep the story simple). I like a lot of things about this new batman, not the least of which is that they relied on stunts where possible rather than CGI it up like all these other movies. There's something flat about an effect that a stunt conveys better.
