Star Trek the Motion Picture : not bad but it was a rush job to try and catch on the momentum of such movies like Star Wars. the Special effect were good for there time, but the if you look closely you can see all the editing error Such as Kirk in two different coloured space suits that he wore to get Spock back. The costumes actually came from the Star Trek 2 tv series that was dropped to do the film instead. The only thing that really sucked though about this film was that paramount kept releasing this movie with more footage of them traveling through vger with nothing really happening. Star Trek II : The Wrath of Khan This by far is the best of the movies. Probably because it was a closer to one of the original series stories. Star Trek III: The Search for Spock this was an interesting movie, but I felt that it took something away from the second movie. Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home This was an ok movie, but I though the movie was more like an episode than a movie. Still the scene with Chekov in the hospital are great. Star Trek V: The Final Frontier This one was a sleeper. Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country I quite like this one it certainly made up for the fifth movie. Star Trek: Generations I though this one sucked. I think that they should have stuck with the original ending where kirk just dies not death monolog. I didn't bother watching the rest of the films

out of all of the movie's I don't have one that I absolutely hated,I thought they all had merit to them in one way or another,I thoiught The final frontier was just like an episode of the original one-they could have done it as an episodde,I didn't care awhole for #7(Generations) It had some amazing scene's but in the end Kirk was still dead-but at least he died doing what he loved saving"his"ship, First Contact was great!!! I loved the tie in's with the Borg, and Cochran riding out his rocket to Leonard Skinnard was fantastic, but the best was Nemesis- I loved the use of the "Picard" Clone,as a reman-wow-not at all as they are described in the series books(The original series that is)the ending sucked bad-won't give it away as there might be people who have not seen it yet.

The Motion Picture: Good, but it seemed like it was trying to be like 2001: A Space Odyssey with all the special effect psychadelia. As much as I love the refitted Enterprise, I could have done without 20 minutes of watching it's exterior lights turn on.
The Wrath of Khan: The best, in my opinion. This one had it all, and this era's uniforms are my favourite.
The Search for Spock: Christopher Lloyd is a good actor, and I think he made a decent Klingon. I disagree with what Jab said though, but that might just be that I've only seen it twice, while I've seen TWOK quite a few times.
The Voyage Home: The first one I had ever seen. I like it, though I missed the Enterprise (that's not the say the 'HMS Bounty' wasn't really cool!). I Do agree with Jab on this one: Chekov's capture/rescue scenes were great. "Name: Chekov, Pavel. Rank: ...Admiral"
The Final Frontier: A little weak. Relied too heavily on cheap humour.
The Undiscovered Country: Pretty good. The sparring between Chang and Kirk were very cool, and it really got into the Klingon mentality, so to speak.
Generations: Meh. Pretty weak.
First Contact: Borg are okay, but they were beginning to be overused by this point. They lost their mystery, you might say. Didn't care for it much.
Insurrection: Haven't seen it in full; looks pretty crappy.
Nemesis: Blatantly fabricated science to make the plot fit. Lousy fight/chase scenes (when watching the dune buggy scene, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry). And Picard was not bald as a young man! Garbage.

The Odd-Even rule clearly applies. Even: Wrath of Khan: Every time I watch this movie I cry. "Ship.. out of.. danger?" The Voyage Home: Star Trek at it's wittiest. "Well a double dumb-ass on you!" The Undiscovered Country: Star Trek goes Shakespeare! "I am constant as the Northern Star!" First Contact: The Star Trek Thriller! "Lower your shields and surrender your ships. Your cultural and biological distinctiveness will be added to our own." Nemesis: Undiscovered Country Redux (without the intrigue): A SHIP THAT CAN FIRE WHILE CLOAKED! (GASP) "They will be unfamiliar with our landing procedures- just open the doors."
Odd: The Motion Picture: Moves as slow as 2001 and includes the ugliest uniforms in the history of Scifi. "Why is the Enterprise infested with the Carbon-units?" The Search For Spock: Oh No! Spock is dead! We can't make more Star Trek movies without Spock! OK, we'll just go fetch him from the Genesis planet.. riiiight. "Genesis Planet forbidden!" The Final Frontier: It leaves a bitter taste in the mouth, doesn't it? "What does God need with a Starship?" Generations: This is the worst movie ever made. There is no way in hell that Kirk deserved such a crappy death. Insurrection: Oh No! They're going to move the innocent people in violation of the Prime Directive! Que a longer version of the plot already used a couple of dozen times in the series. "I should warn you, I've always been attracted to older women."

Well, I gotta agree with the common opinion, that The Wrath of Khan was the best. William Shatner and Ricardo Montolban sparring one more time (at least verbally). Priceless! They took what was probably the third best script of the original series ( The Menagerie and City On The Edge Of Forever being the other greats) and turned it into the most exciting and entertaining of all the Trek films. The Undiscovered Country was the other great Trek film. The characters were....right in 'character'. This film and TWOK were the only films that seemed to remember what Star Trek was all about. Great characterization, a good story, lots of conflict, and dialogue that totally satisfied. I mean, you got to see the characters saying things that you'd always wished they'd said in the series. I thought most of the other movies were garbage. Generations had 'potential' but there were too many flaws, Kirk's crappy death being the most disappointing thing about the movie. No wonder William Shatner was driven to bring Kirk back to life in a couple of Trek novels. He'd invested quite a bit of his life into portraying him. And I almost felt embarrassed for Malcolm McDowell. He deserved a better script than this one. They all did! First Contact also had potential, but again, I think it was flawed. The Borg Queen had such an opportunity to be much more menacing than she was, and what a wonderful actress portraying her! And I think they could have gone much farther with the process of her luring Data over to the Borg side. I was hoping for a much darker story than what was finally delivered. (I wonder what a writer like Ronald D. Moore would have done with a story like this? Probably wouldn't have been suitable for children.... ) I guess there's not much chance of an Enterprise movie, is there?

Hmmm, only known him a couple of days and I find I'm agreeing with Speardane again Star Trek Wrath of Khan, Undiscovered Country and First Contact were my favourites (2,6 and 8). With my love for Star Trek it pains me to say I thought Final Frontier was a bit of a turkey! Dakota69: You are so right with City on the Edge of Forever, GENIUS!!! ;D But remember Plato's Stepchildren Spock should not be made to flamenco, EVER ;D ;D ;D
