I have a tie for my favorite Star Trek Charaters -
I loved Mr. Spock but I also loved Data - in some ways they were similar -
They couldn't feel emotion They were like but did not quite fit in.
A guy that used to post on the Dark Shadows Sci Fi board compared Mr. Spock to Barnabus Collins. That is a comparrison I could see.

My favorites would be Lt. Yar(I hated it when they killed her off) She was so my hero at the time. Chekov-cause I thought he was just so darned cute(plus I got to meet him in person, and he is the nicest guy you'd ever want to meet) Janeway because she had it all, composure, grace, an iron will, and the brain to use it all to her advantage and get ahead. Jadzia Dax, she was one of the finest examples of a woman who could have it all, and still be tough when she needed to be.

I didn't realize until I read it recently that he was suppose to be their answer to Davy Jones. When I was a teeny booper I thought Davy Jones was everything!

There simply is no question. Scotty. Scotty is simply the best. I've known that Scotty was the best since I was eight years old. Not only is he the best engineer ever, his gut plays an important role in determining which season of TOS you're watching- Season 1- he's lean and muscular. Season 3- it's starting to look more like a beer belly. And by Star Trek VII, well, we all know.
Runners-up: Captain Kirk, because he IS Star Trek. McCoy, because DeForest Kelly looks so dashing in an SS uniform. General Martok, because he the definitive Klingon "Worf, anything a Klingon does is the Klingon Way!"

Data by all means. I always loved his strugle to be more human. I was so angry when they killed him off in Nemesis.
runner ups are Scotty, and Tom Paris

Well some of my favorites were the guest stars, Dr. Daystrom (William Marshall)(episode: The Ultimate Computer) was one. He was totally intense. Watching him face-off against Kirk with those Shakespearian-style soliloquies. Kinda reminds me of myself, when I get too carried away with a great idea... But, the all time best was Harcourt Fenton Mudd (Roger Carmel). Here was a man who just acted naturally, driven by his base desires and a willingness to do anything to get ahead. He wasn't intimidated by Star Fleet or the Federation, no sir. This is the kinda guy who's gonna rule the galaxy one day...

Anyone who makes an android of his ex-wife just so that he can listen to her scold him for a few seconds so he can gloat is my kind of man. Heck, that entire episode clearly demonstrated the essence of Mudd. That was an awesome episode.

I really liked the Harry Mudd episodes. Mudd was one of the few guest characters that they ever had return.

Kirk was my favorite captain, with Janeway not far behind. Scotty was my favorite character of the original series, but my favorite overall has to be Worf. The best line of any series ever was his "I am not a merry man!" when Q put them in Sherwood Forest!

One of my old mountain-biking buddies used to say that line whenever he was having mechanical troubles out on the trail. Classic! I also agree with your choice of captains. Janeway was a great captain.Too bad there was never a Voyager movie. Might've been a lot better than, say, Nemesis was. Yup. I think they should've let Janeway handle that situation.

Thought a lot about it and I have to say Spock; I just think that he is the person that comes to mind most when I think of Star Trek as a whole. As for favourite characters: STOS: Spock, Kirk STNG: Worf,Picard STDS9: Worf,Martok,Quark,Weyun. STV: Janeway,7of9( ),The Doctor STEnterprise: Archer, Argh Forgot his name (the Engineer(Travis?)), and blue skin (man who played Weyun).

STEnterprise: Argh Forgot his name (the Engineer(Travis?)), and blue skin (man who played Weyun). Engineer=Charles "Trip" Tucker III. Travis was the black pilot. And the blue skin played by Jeffery Coombs (Weyun) was the Andorian Commander Shran. Coombs did a brilliant job with all his characters (he also played a Ferengi Death Tax Collector and infrequent Quark nemesis on DS9 as well as Weyun) Oddly Riker was a character I would've shot out a torpedo tube in the first two seasons who quickly grew on me from Season Three onward. But THE DOCTOR on Voyager was always a personal favorite. Even got my wife to enjoy a few Trek's because of him.
