One of my favorites growing up...this is classic horror series from the 70s...starring darrin mcgavin...remember this one
Kolchak: The Night Stalker is the story of Carl Kolchak, an investigative reporter for the Independent News Service in Chicago. Kolchak has a first-rate knack for seeking out the truth, no matter how unlikely it might be.

Rumors are flying of a new Kolchak series-I am wondering how true they are-it would be great to see it back on but only if they kept somewhat true to the original-like an older actor, and interesting plots and multiple shows

I watched Kolchak every Thursday night, pretty good for a tv series, but more of a comedy to me. I would like to see a newer version, with the special effects now it would really be a good show....

Kolchak Stalks Again?
Frank Spotnitz, one of the creative forces behind The X-Files, is developing a fresh take on the classic supernatural TV series Kolchak: The Night Stalker for ABC, the original home of the spooky series, Variety reported. X-Files creator Chris Carter often cited Kolchak as one of the inspirations for his own show.
Kolchak debuted as a pair of 90-minute telefilms in 1972 and 1973 and became a short-lived weekly ABC series in September 1974, with The Sopranos creator David Chase and film director Robert Zemeckis among its writers. Darren McGavin played a reporter named Carl Kolchak who had a tendency to uncover mysteries involving vampires, serial killers and other freakish occurrences, the trade paper reported.
It's unclear how closely the new Night Stalker will mirror the format and mood of the original, which was based on a novel by Jeff Rice

This one needs revival. Darren McGavin died yesterday at the age of 83. He touched many lives in the Sci-Fi and fantasy community.

I am watching a Nightstalker on Sky TV, Bravo Channel on Friday night. It's a young actor (late 20s to early 30s) taking the lead role with the black lady that played Will Smiths love interest in Bad Boys 2, as a fellow reporter.
It's quite good; background is something about him and his wife being in a car crash, some kind of beast attacking and dragging away his wife, then ripping the foetus of their unborn child from her womb. Needless to say she didn't survive.
From there he continues to research weird reports in the hope of finding his wife's killer.

That kolchak is played by Stuart Townsend (from Queen of the Dammed movie)
The female is Gabrielle Union who also played in a trek episode
On the 6 episode, it was cancelled in the US

SciFi Channel in the states is going to show the series. They will rerun the episodes shown by ABC and then run the ones ABC didn't show this summer.
