I was walking around my floor of my school during lunch not to long ago, and something sort of clued in. In every area of my part of the school where students sit around between classes to do school work or eat, there was one for of RGP game being played i.e. Dungens and Dragons. It seems that games not played on a compters is making a comeback.

When I was in high school, Magic: The Gathering and similar card games was big among some people. D&D sounds like the kind of thing that would/will never really be forgotten. (Here I was thinking this would be an ADOM-appreciation thread. )

You would think that but it had been about 10 to 15 years since I've seen anyone playing the game. Then again its been a while since I've had the time since I've been any comic book stores that sell RPG games, but still I haven't seen it being played around anywhere that I have been around.

That's the beauty of DnD. You don't really need anything to play it. Character sheets are availbale online for free printout, and all you need are dice and a board. My roommate and I just use Risk (well, Lord of the Rings Risk) pieces for NPCs, lthough he had some pewter figures for our characters.

D&D suffered a lot at the hands of some radical christian groups, who claimed that it was a big evokation of satan/calling on the dark powers of the occult etc. as those groups have quieted down, us RPGers have been coming out of the woodwork, no longer needing to fear scorn as the servants of Satan. Don't take that to mean that we haven't always been there.

Indeed has been played everywhere at everytime since it's beginnings ...... I have played DnD since it was a red box set back in ........ well lets no go back that far!! lol as a matter of Fact ......... Tass was my first DnD character !! ........... it is still there and alot of it is being sold not so much in places like comic stores anymore but in places like Walden books ....... at least that is where I am bought my third edition books from lol !! it is making an comeback to teh public ......... but doing it in a far more simplistic way ...... word of mouth and hard core gamers .. also it does help that games such as NeverWinter Nights have come out and are still being played by Thousands of people everyday from all over the world ........ that kind of devotion to a game that is 5 + years old ....... is amazing to me ....... but they come into the servers and they learn ...... and from there they get interested and try out a real PnP game ... It is Fantastic to see the new generation of RPG'ers out there come to the fore .........
